The conservative restoration of Porta Grande, symbol of the historic center of Mesagne, enhances the historical facade and urban identity through a careful architectural recovery and the introduction of a scenographic lighting that enhances the monument.

Restoration of the symbol of Mesagne

In 2017, the historic Porta Grande di Mesagne was the subject of a conservation intervention of great value, aimed at preserving one of the most representative icons of the city. Included in the categories of public building, restoration and plant design, the project has guaranteed the structural rehabilitation of the monument, strengthening its durability and identity value. A strategic step in the development of the historic center, heart of the Messapi Land.

A monumental entrance between history and urban identity

Also known as "Porta Nova", the Porta Grande is the main entrance to the historic center of Mesagne and testifies centuries of history, from the Messapic age to the Baroque. The restoration has brought to light the original architectural elements, through techniques compatible and respectful of historic surfaces. An intervention that enhances the monument and strengthens the cultural and tourist identity of the city, returning to the community a recognizable and living symbol.

Light and technology for a new urban use

The intervention was completed with a new lighting system, designed to enhance the architectural forms of the Porta Grande in the evening hours. In addition to improving the visibility of the monument, the installation creates a suggestive atmosphere along the pedestrian paths of the center. The use of low energy impact technologies combines sustainability and valorization, bringing back to the center of the scene a symbolic and identity place.
