The restoration of the Gaetani Palace in Martano, an example of neoclassical architecture in Salento, provides a new use as a tourist center with exhibition spaces and garden, accompanied by the enhancement of technological systems to ensure efficiency and comfort.

Philological restoration for an icon of the neoclassicism salentino

In 2015 the Palazzo Ducale di Martano, also known as Gaetani Palace, was the subject of a careful restoration and requalification. Included in the categories of public building, restoration and plant design, the project aimed at the philological recovery of the original forms of the building, emblem of neoclassicism Salento. Monumentality, harmonic proportions and chromatic sobriety have been restored, restoring cultural value and identity to one of the city’s emblematic buildings.

A tourist centre in the heart of tradition

The restoration has transformed the Doge’s Palace into a cultural and tourist centre. The spaces have been converted to house an information centre, an exhibition hall dedicated to local products and a garden for events and cultural initiatives. An intervention that combines historical valorization and new functionality, offering the territory a virtuous example of intelligent reuse of public heritage.

Technological systems for an efficient and welcoming building

The upgrade has made the Doge’s Palace fully usable according to contemporary standards, thanks to the improvement of lighting, installation of emergency systems, telephone and television. The intervention has improved safety and energy efficiency, without altering the architectural language. A balance between innovation and protection that strengthens the cultural and public vocation of the building, now renovated and ready to welcome visitors and citizens.
