Conservative restoration in the White City
In 2015 the Church of San Vito Martire, a baroque jewel in the historic center of Ostuni, was the focus of an important restoration. Acquired by the municipality in 1981, the church is one of the finest examples of religious architecture in the city. The intervention, falling under the category "Restoration", had the objective of preserving and enhancing the facade, countering the degradation of stone materials and returning to the community a heritage with strong historical and cultural value.
The baroque facade between ornament and urban identity
Rich in mouldings, bas-reliefs and carved niches, the Baroque facade of the Church of San Vito Martire dominates via Cattedrale thanks to the scenographic staircase and the raised churchyard. The restoration restored the legibility of the ornamental elements, using techniques compatible with the original materials. Each intervention has been carried out with philological care, to protect the visual identity of the historic center and preserve its formal value.
