In the heart of the historic centre of Lecce, the restoration of the Risorgimento Hotel enhances an iconic building through the cleaning and protection of the Lecce stone and carp, with a careful artisanal recovery of iron gratings and preservation of the original style.
Conservative restoration in the heart of Lecce
Located in the historic centre of Lecce, the Risorgimento Hotel has been carefully restored to enhance one of the city’s most emblematic buildings. The project, carried out in 2006, involved the recovery and consolidation of the facades and internal walls, with a particular attention to the preservation of the original architectural identity. The project falls within the category of commercial building and architectural restoration, giving new life to a heritage of historical and cultural importance.
Local materials and vintage details
One of the distinctive elements of the intervention was the cleaning of the surfaces in Lecce and Carparo stone, two materials that are characteristic of the Salento area. The operation involved capitals, colonnades and frames, with a careful approach to enhance the original textures and colors. The project also provided for the application of a water-repellent protection on stone ornaments, in order to guarantee their durability over time and resistance to atmospheric agents, without altering their aesthetics.
Handicraft recovery and historical value
The restoration has included the requalification of iron grates, returning them to their original elegance through a skilful handicraft recovery work. Each phase of the intervention has been oriented to respect traditional construction techniques, in harmony with the requirements for functionality of a high-end accommodation structure. The final result is a perfect balance between historical memory and contemporary hospitality, which gives the Hotel Risorgimento a unique identity in the hotel panorama of southern Italy.
