Restoration and adaptation of the Boccioni Institute: ensuring functionality, safety and preservation of historical heritage. All interventions are designed in compliance with superintendence guidelines, maintaining the original appearance through conservative maintenance.
Objectives of the project
The project for the Boccioni Institute has two basic goals:
1) to meet modern educational and functional needs, in line with current regulations
2) to carry out urgent maintenance and restoration work, essential for the preservation of the building.
Institute History
A historic building founded in 1931, the Boccioni Institute became a schoolhouse only at the end of the last century. Although maintenance and adjustment work has been carried out, a comprehensive and structured intervention is now needed to meet modern needs.
Planned interventions
The project includes targeted interventions in the basement and ground floor to improve the hygienic, functional and safety features of the current teaching environments, meeting the needs imposed by regulations and school use.
Compliance with superintendence guidance
In compliance with the directives of the Superintendence of Architectural Heritage, interventions will be carried out with constant attention to the original typological elements. Modifications, particularly to exterior openings (such as the new basement exits), will be limited and targeted.
Restoration of facades
The interior facades of the courtyards will be restored in full respect of the original finishes. Work on plaster, decorations, cornices, floor markers, and replacement of window and door frames will be carried out in such a way as to preserve the historic image, keeping form, materials, colors, and details intact.
