Architecture and symmetry

The world is asymmetric, but the structural conditions of its perceptibility are subject to the rules of the "good shape" and among them there is symmetry.
Symmetry, Greek word that means "right proportion, balance", has always practiced a strong attraction both on artists and scientists.
Symmetry is a peculiarity of nature, of crystals, of many living organisms, of the structure of the human body, of many rules of physics, it's the rhythm of many shapes revealed by maths and geometry in its hidden structure.
The most famous emblem of human symmetry is the drawing of Vitruvio, which has become popular thanks to Leonardo. This symmetry, received by the Creator, has been transmitted by man to his own creations, starting from the architectural ones.

For us of Leo Constructions, designing and building mean to closely know the rules of a "right proportion", the balance between form and function, it means to source materials and techniques necessary to bring to life harmonious and beautiful "architectural bodies". Just like those that we have chosen to illustrate the 2011 calendar, unique and universal architectures, works of the human intellect that, in different epochs and locations, the art of building has been able to achieve.
